Yesterday, we got up ate a snack of fresh berries and some puffed corn and took off on our bikes to explore a new way into downtown. The cool morning air helped make the ride through the streets quite enjoyable, and when we reached the trail, the river, trees, and bushes kept us cool all the way into town.

Trudi is great about observing the nature that we are passing through, and she spotted a large eagle’s nest (at least that’s what I think it was) high atop a steel power transmission line. We didn’t have our binoculars, but I couldn’t see any birds occupying it. Just a short distance away, we caught site of one blue heron chasing another away from his fishing spot in a small pond. As we pulled into town, we marveled out how much the river had changed since the early spring run off that we rode past just a few months earlier.

We ended up having a wonderful breakfast at a small, but busy cafe in downtown…poached eggs, hash browns and a pancake for me, and breakfast tacos for Trudi.

What a great start to a Sunday morning! Great company, great conversation, wonderful food, plenty of sunshine and fresh air and biking!
